About C.C.L.T.I.

Child Care Life Training Institute started as a dream to Co-Owners Nicole Smith and Dacia Dumas. A dream of one day training professionals on topics that are needed and useful to the profession we call Child Care. Because of their background in Family Child Care they recognized that there was a need for better training in the Family Child Care arena. Their experience as Teachers, Assistant Directors, Directors, and business owners of Family Child Care centers has driven them to desire to do more because they have been able to see more. Because Family Child Care does not get the support and recognition it deserves, they have chosen to target this audience in hopes with great determination they will be able to Make A Change. Their goal is to make Child Care Life Training Institute the Resource & Referral Company Family Child Care need.

Nicole R. Smith

I am an educator with a BA in Elementary Education with fifteen years of teaching experience. During my years of teaching in both public and private schools I discovered the need for educating our youth at an early age. This led me to open Positive Beginning Preschool, LLC. Professionally, I am a member of FCCPU (Family Child Care Providers United) and NAFCC (National Association of Family Child Care). In October 2012 I became a certified trainer through LA Pathways Career Development System as a Trainer II. I also hold a CDA (Child Development Associate). As a trainer I've trained in FCCPU Workshops, Agenda for Children, and GNOAEYC Conference. Presently, I've been awarded an awesome opportunity to be co-owner of Child Care Life Training Institute.

"The secret in education lies in respecting the student." Ralph Waldo Emerson

First, I would like to give glory to God for this great opportunity and responsibility. I began my childcare journey at a very young age. I was 8 years old to be exact. What started out as a summer job for me, grew into a full time career and now is my life's passion. I began working professionally in the Child Care field in 1998 as an Assistant Director. In 2003 I became a Director for a center that I ran independently. In 2004 after having my second child, I opened Children's Village Infant & Toddler Center. As my desire to do more as a FCC Provider grew, I began searching for associations and organizations to help boost and support me as a professional in my career. Therefore. I joined the GNOAEYC(Greater New Orleans Association for the Education of Young Children), NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children), NAFCC(National Association of Family Child Care) and now the leader of FCCPU (Family Child Care Providers United) which lead me to my latest achievement; becoming co-owner of Child Care Life Training Institute.

I accomplished my CDA goal in 2011. I am enrolled in Self Study with the NAFCC for Accreditation, I am a LA Pathways certified trainer and my training experience include the following: GNOAEYC Conference, FCCPU workshops, Agenda for Children, K&K Providers Food & Nutrition Co. and NAFCC Conference.
